Justice Equity Design applies the same formula in all our trainings:
You will learn an equity lexicon: the words and concepts needed in order to join in the conversation on race.
Next we study social and legal history, which will help you understand structural racism and its impact .
You will design a narrative shift to gain experience in shifting equity-perspective.
In our trainings, participants use what they have learned to shift narratives in hypothetical situations. Participants apply the language and historical context, to real life equity problems in a sandbox/safe environment, so when it comes to dealing proactively with issues at their organization they have the experience necessary to succeed.
JED's sequence puts you in charge of helping your organization examine and reflect on its past, look at its present, and plan for a future that is equitable to all members of the community.
